Ideas for Bike Friendly Schools

Simple and Effective Ideas for Making Your Workplace Bicycle Friendly:

 ·        Provide employees with cycling literature:

Bike to Work Guide                   Bike Week flyer

Trail Etiquette                          Lighten Up eh!

Order copies from the Regional Niagara Public Health Dept.

905-688-8248 ext 7344 or nrphd-hl@regional.niagara.on.ca

·        Include cycling information in the staff newsletter:

·        Announcements of local bike rodeos and events.

·        Cycling safety tips.

·        Cycling maintenance information.

·        Invite a cycling enthusiast to speak about bicycling trails in the Niagara Region during Bike Week (May 31 to June 8, 2003) or any other time of the year.

·        Invite a cycle “expert" and host a Bike Ready and Roll hands-on workshop. Bring your bike in and the expert will help you get it ready to ‘roll’ with an inspection and recommendations for bike readiness.

·        Promote cycling related web sites through staffs newsletters and pay cheque inserts:

www.regional.niagara.on.ca/gncr (Greater Niagara Circle Route)  www.rnbc.info (Regional Niagara Bicycling Committee)

·        Plan a cycling event, challenge another workplace.

·        Include a cycling component to the annual staff BBQ.
