August 18 & 19, 2007 (Cancelled for 2007) The Lung Association's Bike Trek  Cancelled in 2007

We would like to thank everyone for your support and efforts in building and promoting BikeTREK in your local community by engaging local bike retailers, past participants, cycling clubs, media outlets etc.

We’ve had a lot of positive feedback to date and progress has been made on this exciting event.  However, a decision has been made to postpone the event until summer 2008.   This decision was not made lightly.  Due to delays in approving the critical elements that lead to a successful event, it is felt that postponing the event is in the best interests of the organization, potential sponsors and participants.

With this in mind we ask that you please take immediate action by contacting your prospects, sponsors and vendors to release them from their current obligations.  Please thank them for their support, and to please consider supporting our event in 2008 when we re-launch the program in Niagara.

May 16  2007 Ride of Silence
This ride is a free ride, there are no fees, no registration, no sponsors, no pledges, no t-shirts, no prizes, only silence....however, I hope we are heard.
Because this is a free ride, there is also no budget...but again luck was on our side.  We have permission to use the Niagara Square parking lot as a start/finish point, I have both city and regional permits approved for road use, we have liability insurance covered under the city's plan and thankfully the NRPS, as a one time only gesture, will supply the required police escort for free.  I plan on approaching St. John's Ambulance to see if they would follow the cyclists at the rear of the ride.
